* Based on the narrative of the concluding prayers of the Jewish worship service - a silent moment of personal prayer following the Amidah (standing central prayer), Oseh Shalom - a prayer for peace, Aleinu - a call to action, Mourner's Kaddish - dedication to the memory of loved ones, and a closing song. This is the moment of transition from the prayer service back into everyday life.
* Composed a cappella on the Bayit porch swing at URJ Camp OSRUI in May 2019, based on a lyric idea saved on my iPhone from fall 2015, and part of my English service project.
* Eventually fleshed out on guitar, and workshopped with Kenneth Lyonswright (who contributed great chord ideas) and Rachel Mylan (who encouraged me to rock it out) - both of whom appear singing on this album.
* Arranged for debut with my frequent collaborators Laurie Akers, Cantor Jay O’Brien and Cantor Shanna Zell at the URJ Biennial gathering in Chicago, December 2019 during a rehearsal for my Jewish Rock Radio stage set. Premiered as a Facebook video the night before the show. Thrilled to be able to gather them (remotely) along with Kenneth for the studio recording of this song.
